Three minutes from Braidwood, on the Southern Tablelands, at the foot of our own hill, sits GOLD CREEK Galloway stud. Now running one of the larger herds of Miniature White Galloways in Australia, no one is more surprised than breeders Pamela Robinson and Suzanne Baker. What started out as a hobby with two little White Galloway steers for a bit of fun has grown into a small stud, a very popular website and a genuine passion for breeding Miniature White Galloways.

Pam and her partner Suzanne are very firm when they say, "Given a choice, we would choose Miniature White Galloways time and time again. It has been our experience, that the Miniature Galloway is the most docile and affectionate of all the different breeds of miniature cattle."

Small traditional Galloways are perfect for people wanting beautiful cattle to show, docile cattle as pets and great foragers for small acreage pasture management needs.

At the GOLD CREEK stud, the cattle are handled every day. The owners run several businesses from the property and welcome any opportunity to go outside and 'catch up' with the cows. It is this ongoing handling that makes the Miniature Galloways at this stud so docile and user-friendly.

One of the proudest achievements at GOLD CREEK in 2011 was three graded heifer calves. These heifers are now part of the GOLD CREEK purebred grading up program. Pictured below marching across the paddock at five months old these little 'girls' are on a mission.

Proudest achievement in 2012 was the high number of GOLD CREEK full blood heifer calves born and bred on the property. Pam and Suzanne now have paddocks full of little full blood and purebred Miniature White Galloway cows and calves. In January 2014, the first of the purebred born and bred GOLD CREEK Galloway heifer calf was born. In 2016, the entire herd was moved to Braidwood in Southern NSW.

Both women came to Miniature Galloways as a first-time livestock owner. They now really enjoy encouraging others to take up the challenge and will help in any way they can. They are first to admit that the learning curve can seem steep, but the sheer joy of being with the cattle is so rewarding. They believe that if two first-timers, with no previous skills or knowledge, can do it, so can you. Miniature Galloways make it so easy.

The small traditional White Galloway cattle at GOLD CREEK are seriously quiet. The breeders work from the property during the week, allowing Pam and her partner the luxury of getting out into the paddocks three or four times a day, every day. This means seriously quiet cattle and great photo opportunities. Galloways are docile by nature. They do not need ongoing brushing and attention but the breeders enjoy it.

Life is easy. Calf whispering is all part of a good day's work - one of the best parts.
