Gold Creek's cows are beautiful, and their calves are ridiculously cute. So Suzanne understands why so many people want to visit. Sadly, she can no longer accommodate the sheer volume of people who would like to visit. The Gold Creek stud property is not a commercial farm or a tourist operation of any kind. It is a hobby farm and a private home. Gold Creek is unable to host open days for visitors (the logistics, the help required, the insurance... just not possible). But you can still visit. You can visit after you adopt (sponsor) a cow or calf. You can also visit Gold Creek Stud to purchase cattle that Suzanne has emailed you about being for sale. The people on the Sales Contact List receive those coming-up-for-sale emails. All visits are by email invitation and by appointment only.
If you can't make it in person, you can still enjoy the peaceful vibe and beauty of the cattle on the Gold Creek YouTube Channel. Please feel free to SUBSCRIBE while you are there. And who knows, you might just fall in love with a cow from the comfort of your couch!
Visiting Adopted Cattle
The adoption papers that come with every adoption include an invitation for a private visit. So, if you are an adopter, you can visit after you adopt (sponsor) a cow or calf
Potential Buyers Adopting
Sometimes potential buyers have chosen to adopt a calf so they can visit. People get themselves on our Sales Contact List and then adopt. Every adopter receives an introductory letter that contains an invitation to visit the farm. These buyers have a plan. It is often just to get a feel for the cattle (and Gold Creek as breeders) well before any herd member is offered for sale. Adoption is also an excellent opportunity for first-timers to get up close to the cattle and to spend a couple of hours in the paddock asking us a million and one questions. So, when it comes time to make a purchase, they are well placed to make a decision and to make it quickly. The adoption fee, paid by any future buyer, is deducted from the sale price of any cattle purchased. Potential buyers are directed to the Gold Creek Buying Process information towards the bottom of the Sales page.
If you choose to adopt one of Gold Creek's herd members, you can visit on weekdays, weekends, or during school holidays. All it takes is an email, and Suzanne will organise a day and time. All visitors to the farm are encouraged to come into the paddock, walk among the docile herd, talk to the cattle, and brush them. The cattle love this interaction as much as the visitors. Suzanne loves answering all of your questions.
Visit to Purchase Cattle
To organise a visit to purchase cattle, you will need to be on the Sales Contact List. Suzanne will then contact you when the cattle that are best suited to your needs are being considered for sale. Potential buyers are asked not to bring children or invite their extended family to the Gold Creek property on the day of the inspection to buy. Inspections to buy cattle and family outings need to be two separate visits.
Families Visiting Adopted Calves
If you have never been to a cattle stud but would love to see our gorgeous Galloways up close and personal, just adopt one. Visiting adopted cows or calves makes for a lovely outing. As part of your adoption, you are invited to visit your cow or calf on the property and meet their paddock pals (the herd). Calf adoption is a wonderful experience. It costs little, it is done online, and the profits go to farm animal sanctuaries. Adopters are invited to bring a friend or a family member with them for the visit.
School holidays have been set aside for people to visit their adopted calves.
When you adopt, Suzanne is happy to spend time with you, answer all of your questions, and make sure you and the cattle enjoy your visit in general. GOLD CREEK stud mascots are also available with adoptions (profits from adoptions and mascot purchases support farm animal shelters in Australia). See Calf Adoption for further details on this.
Unfortunately, potential visitors need to be aware from the outset that visits sometimes have to be cancelled at very short notice (due to the nature of running a cattle stud and two businesses from the same address). We have only had to cancel a small number of visits so far, and it is hoped it won't happen again, but these things happen.
By adopting a calf, you are supporting Gold Creek cattle through their training programme and helping cattle in farm animal sanctuaries.
