Our cows and their calves are ridiculously cute, so we understand why lots of people want to visit. We are not a tourist operation of any kind and we don't have open days for visitors. But, you can still visit. You can visit after you adopt (sponsor) a cow or calf that lives here. Or you can visit our stud to purchase cattle that we have emailed you about being for sale (only people who are on our Sales Contact List receive those sale emails). All visits are by written emailed invitation and by appointment only.DSCN2260 2

Children can interact with all of our cattle in the paddock - this Includes bulls and new mothers.

To cater for ever increasing number of people wanting to visit the herd for the sheer pleasure of it (and it is a sheer pleasure), we set up our adoption program. Adopting is sponsoring with visiting rights, not buying. You can adopt a herd member today and then visit your adopted cow or calf tomorrow if it fits in with everybody's schedule (and the weather is fine). Or you can wait a week, a month or a year to visit. Some people come more than once and never visit, but they follow the herd online.

Stud visits to purchase cattle are organised when we have cattle for sale and only when we have cattle for sale. If we don't have cattle for sale, we don't organise visits for potential buyers. We rarely advertise cattle for sale. We never get a chance! With the high number of enquiries we get and our Sales Contact List being so extensive, we haven't actually advertised cattle for sale in years - maybe even ten years. We contact the people on our Sales Contact List and advertising is no longer necessary.

However, we have had potential buyers adopt a calf so they can visit. People get themselves on our Sales Contact List and then adopt. Their plan is often just to get a feel for the cattle (and us as breeders) well before any herd member is offered for sale. Adoption is also an excellent opportunity for first-timers to get up close to the cattle and to spend a couple of hours in the paddock asking us a million and one questions. Potential buyers are directed to the Our Buying Process information towards the bottom of our Sales page.

If you choose to adopt one of our herd members, you can visit on weekdays, weekends, or during school holidays. All it takes is an email and we will organise a day and time. All visitors to our farm are encouraged to come into the paddock, walk among our docile herd, talk to the cattle and brush them. The cattle love this interaction as much as the visitors. Suzanne loves answering all of your questions.

Visit to Purchase Cattle

When We Have Cattle for Sale: To organise a visit to purchase cattle, you will need to be on our Sales Contact List. We ask that potential buyers do not bring children or invite their extended family to our property on the day of the inspection to buy. Inspections to buy cattle and family outings need to be two separate visits.

Families Visiting Adopted Calves

If you have never been to a cattle stud but would love to see our gorgeous Galloways up close and personal - adopt one. Visiting adopted cows or calves makes for a lovely outing. As part of your adoption, you are invited to visit your cow or calf on the property and meet their paddock pals (the herd). Calf adoption is a wonderful experience. It costs little, it is done online, and the profits go to a good cause (farm animal sanctuaries). Adopters are invited to bring a friend or a family member with then for the visit.

School holidays have been set aside for people to visit their adopted calves.

When you adopt, we are happy to spend time with you, answer all of your questions, and make sure you and the cattle enjoy your visit in general. Our GOLD CREEK Stud mascots are also available with adoptions (profits from adoptions and mascot purchases support farm animal shelters in Australia). See Calf Adoption for further details on this.

Unfortunately, potential visitors need to be aware from the outset, that visits sometimes have to be cancelled at very short notice (due to the nature of running a cattle stud and two businesses from the same address). We have only had to cancel one visit so far, and we hope it won't happen again, but these things happen.

By adopting a calf, you are supporting our cattle through their training program and helping farm animal sanctuaries.
